MANUU Fetes Women’s Creativity
Food counters offered homemade pickles, millet sweets, biryanis and regional snacks.

Hyderabad:To promote women’s enterprise and self-reliance, Anjuman-e-Khawateen (MAK) of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), in collaboration with SAFA, organised Dhanak Bazar — a day-long exhibition-cum-market that filled the campus with colour, craft and conversation.
Inaugurating the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan said it showcased how art and entrepreneurship can empower women. “Events like this give women visibility and confidence to turn ideas into livelihoods,” he said after visiting the stalls.
Over 30 stalls run by women students, faculty and local entrepreneurs displayed hand-embroidered dupattas, block-printed scarves, recycled stationery, eco-friendly décor, terracotta jewellery, candles and soaps. Food counters offered homemade pickles, millet sweets, biryanis and regional snacks.
“The aim is to turn creativity into income,” said Arshia Hasan, president of MAK. “Each product here represents a woman using her skill to support her family or fund her studies.”Prof. M. Vanaja, general secretary of MAK, welcomed guests. Students described the event as “a festival of self-made women,” with visitors thronging stalls till evening.
A calligraphy corner by Urdu students, a handloom stall from Karimnagar and a wellness kiosk by SAFA’s self-help groups drew special attention. The day concluded with cultural performances and an open mic for student entrepreneurs to share their journeys.

BDL launches Vigilance Week to promote integrity

Workshops organised by the vigilance department will focus on preventive vigilance, company policies and transparency. Officials said the observance aims to reinforce integrity and accountability across all levels of BDL.
Entering markets sans knowledge dangerous: Experts
Hyderabad:India’s young investors are entering markets faster than they are being trained for them — a gap experts say could shape the nation’s financial future. The issue framed discussions at the workshop “Sustainable Financial Education: Building Informed Investors and Harnessing Youth Power for Viksit Bharat,” held on Monday at the University of Hyderabad (UoH). The event was organised by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) and the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), ministry of corporate affairs, in collaboration with UoH’s school of economics.
IEPFA CEO and joint secretary Anita Shah Akella said financial literacy “must move beyond textbooks into daily life,” urging students to verify online investment advice and rely on credible sources. UoH vice chancellor Prof. B. J. Rao said, “Financial confidence among young people is not a luxury; it is essential for Viksit Bharat.”
IEPF chair professor Dr C.S. Mohapatra warned that “financial scams and influencers selling quick-profit advice are eroding trust — education must build caution and confidence together.” Experts, including Prof. Alok Kumar Mishra (UoH), Dr Singala Subbaiah (RBI), Avishkar Naik (NSE India) and Kamalakar Sai Palavalasa (MicroNsure), discussed investor behaviour, fraud prevention, capital markets and fintech inclusion. Students participated in sessions on safe banking, grievance redressal and responsible investing.
