Mandal-Level Prajavani To Begin From August 17: Chinna Reddy

560 MPDOs named nodal officers to lead local grievance redressal

Hyderabad: Mandal-level Prajavani programmes will be launched from August 17, with 560 mandal parishad development officers (MPDOs) designated as mandal nodal officers, according to Dr G. Chinna Reddy, state-level Prajavani In-charge and Telangana Planning Board vice-chairman.

Addressing a training programme for the MPDOs at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan, Dr Chinna Reddy said officials should remember that they were accountable to the people and must discharge their duties with dedication and responsibility, with resolving public grievances as their primary objective.

He said MPDOs and officials of various departments at the mandal level would have a key role in addressing the grievances of people approaching Prajavani. Officials should patiently listen to citizens, receive their applications and make every effort to resolve issues at the field level instead of allowing them to remain pending.

“People are the masters,” Dr Chinna Reddy said, stressing that serving citizens was the basic responsibility of every government official. He urged the MPDOs to uphold the confidence placed in them by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and use Prajavani as a platform to resolve the problems of poor and disadvantaged people.

Dr Chinna Reddy said the state-level Chief Minister’s Prajavani had achieved a 75 per cent success rate in grievance resolution and asked district and mandal-level officials to work with the same commitment.

He directed officials to complete preparations for the launch of mandal-level Prajavani and make arrangements on the lines of the Chief Minister’s programme. These include department-wise grievance desks, assistance for writing and submitting applications, drinking water and medical facilities, and special arrangements for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

State nodal officer K. Vidyasagar said officials should remember that they were public servants and should remain accessible to citizens. He said officials should not merely receive applications but take responsibility for examining and resolving genuine grievances.

Vemula Srinivasulu, Chief Minister’s OSD and officer overseeing Prajavani affairs in the Chief Minister’s Office, said officials should listen patiently to people who approach the programme after facing problems for a long period. He asked MPDOs to work in a manner that builds public confidence in the administration.

Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commissioner Divya Devarajan said patiently hearing a person's grievance itself could resolve half the problem. She urged officials to ensure that grievances were followed up until appropriate action was taken.

During the training programme, experts explained the procedures for conducting mandal-level Prajavani, including grievance registration, processing, inter-departmental coordination and public facilitation through presentations. Planning department director Sheikh Meera, CM Prajavani ACP Umender, Deputy Collector Venkateshwarlu, Centre for Good Governance official Sushila and other officials participated in the programme.
