Hyderabad: Film actress Manchu Lakshmi appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Basheerbagh here on Wednesday in connection with a case registered for promoting illegal betting apps.
She appeared before the sleuths of ED at its office in Basheerbagh in response to summons issued to her asking to appear before them. She said that money can easily be earned while promoting apps. The ED sleuths were believed to have asked her to submit her bank statements for examining them in detail.
On August 11, film actor Rana Daggubati appeared before the ED in the same case, which is being probed based on a First Information Report (FIR) issued by Cyberabad police. On August 6, After Vijay Devarakonda also appeared before it.
A few months ago, the Cyberabad police booked a criminal case against popular film actors and actresses - Rana Daggubati, Vijay Devarakonda, Prakash Raj, among others for promoting betting apps in violation of norms through pop-up ads on various social media platforms. The case was booked under provisions of 318(4), 112 read with 49 BNS and Section 3, 3(A), 4 of TS Gaming Act and Section (D) of IT Act based on a complaint lodged by PM Phanindra Sarma, a businessman and a resident of Miyapur.
