Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught Katam Ram Mohan, an Assistant Labour Officer in Mancherial, red-handed at his residence when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.50,000 from a complainant.

The bribe was demanded for showing an official favour to process and forward the complainant's application to higher authorities for the sanction of accidental death claim and funeral charges, in connection with the death of the complainant's brother, who was registered as a construction labourer.

The tainted bribe amount of Rs.50,000 was recovered from the possession of Ram Mohan. Both hand fingers of Ram Mohan yielded positive results in the chemical test.

Meanwhile, the ACB registered a case against Yelagandula Bhavani, a Deputy Tahsildar at the office of Mulugu Tahsildar in Siddipet district for having demanded an amount of Rs.2 lakh from the complainant on April 24, 2025 for showing an official favour to processing the pattadar passbook of the complainant's relative.

The ACB officials said Bhavani dishonestly and improperly performed her public duty and tried to obtain undue advantage. The case is under investigation.
