Man Trapped Between Lift And Floor For 1.5 Hours Rescued By HYDRAA, Fire Department

HYDERABAD: A 40-year-old man, who was trapped between a lift and the second-floor landing for nearly 90 minutes, was rescued by HYDRAA and the fire department in Moosapet’s Anjaneyanagar on Sunday.
Murali, was going with his wife from the ground floor to the second floor of a three-storey building. When the lift reached the second floor, Murali tried to step out. The lift started moving upwards before he could fully exit, as another person pressed the button.
With one of Murali’s legs inside the lift and another on the second-floor landing, he became trapped in the metal grill as the lift moved up.
His wife raised an alarm and residents tried in vain to rescue him. Residents reported the incident to the HYDRAA control room at 9,15 am, and a team led by marshal J.D.V. Prasad reached the spot at 9.30 am.
The team, along with personnel from the Sanathnagar fire station, used a hydraulic cutter to break open part of the lift structure. The rescue operation took around about one and a half hours, and Murali was safely brought out at 10.50 am.
HYDRAA said Murali’s leg was fractured after being crushed between the lift and the wall, and he was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials said the old lift and malfunctioning sensors contributed to the accident.
