Man Threatens To Throw Acid, Kill Woman After Engagement Called Off

Hyderabad: A 33-year-old official with a private company has lodged a complaint alleging that a man threatened throw acid on her face and kill her after their engagement was called off, besides subjecting her to harassment, intimidation and defamation.
According to her complaint, they got engaged on April 5, but the marriage was called off on April 25 following alleged demands for money, abusive behaviour, suspicious conduct and threats. She alleged that she earlier lent him around `15 lakh for breast-cancer drug research, which he failed to repay. She claimed that he subsequently harassed her and her family when she demanded the money back.

The woman earlier lodged complaints at Vanasthalipuram police station, following which FIRs were registered on May 26 and June 24. She said CCTV footage and other evidence supported her allegations. Vanasthalipuram police added that the cases were stalking and threatening and he was also sent to judicial remand. Later, she learnt that on August 4, she learnt that a false complaint was lodged against her using an email ID that did not belong to her. She also alleged that another fake email ID, impersonating her brother, was used to contact her colleagues.
She alleged that the complaints, impersonation and publicity were intended to defame her and pressure her to abandon efforts to recover the `15 lakh. Malkajgiri cybercrime police are investigating the allegations.
