Four special teams were deployed to analyse CCTV footage and technical data, leading to the arrest of Dhabee Vinod, 30, a grocery delivery worker, and Makkala Mohan, 19, a Swiggy delivery boy, both residents of Secunderabad.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to luring the victim, Jai Prakash Deshmukh, 38, from Monda Market to Secunderabad Railway Station under the pretext of a drop. They then took him to an isolated spot near Tukaramgate bypass road, where they struck him with a boulder and fled with his belongings.
Police discovered Deshmukh’s body on June 3, lying in a pool of blood with head injuries. A liquor bottle and a rexene belt bag were found at the scene. With little initial information, investigators released the victim’s photographs in print and social media, after which his family identified him.
Deshmukh, who worked as a mason in Hyderabad and lived at construction sites, was supposed to meet his brother in Miyapur after travelling from Kazipet. His body was handed over to his family.
Under the supervision of DCP Rakshitha Murthy, the teams traced and apprehended the culprits. The accused have been produced before court for judicial remand.
