Man Kills Brother, Pregnant Wife Over ₹7,000 Row

The accused, Adil Khan, a cab driver, had lent his brother ₹7,000 seven months ago.

A man allegedly murdered his younger brother and his four‑month‑pregnant wife over a financial dispute involving ₹7,000 at their house in Noorkhan Bazar on Monday evening. Mirchowk police identified the victims as Aqhil Khan, an electrician, and his wife Ajmera Begum.

The accused, Adil Khan, a cab driver, had lent his brother ₹7,000 seven months ago. Frequent quarrels over the debt culminated in the fatal attack. Police said Adil went to Aqhil’s house around 6 pm demanding repayment. When Aqhil said he could return the money in a few days, a heated argument ensued. Adil, who had carried a knife, stabbed Aqhil multiple times in the stomach after slitting his throat, killing him instantly.

Ajmera Begum, who tried to intervene, was also attacked. Adil slit her throat and stabbed her repeatedly before fleeing, leaving the weapon at the scene. Locals alerted police, and DCP Rajesh along with Mirchowk police rushed to the spot. Fingerprint and CLUES teams collected evidence, while the victims’ bodies were shifted to Osmania General Hospital for post‑mortem. Two special teams have been formed, and police are scanning CCTV footage to trace and arrest the accused.

A worker seriously injured in accident in explosive company

A worker was seriously injured in an explosion at a unit of Premier Explosives Limited in Pedda Kandukuru of Yadagirigutta mandal in Yadadri-Bhongir district on Monday.

Police identified the injured as Miryala Kranthi Kumar, 35, a native of Pedda Kandukuru. The explosion reportedly occurred while he was mixing chemicals in Block 11 of the company.

He was shifted to Yashoda Hospital Secunderabad for treatment.

Karate Kalyani files plaint against Prakash Raj

BJP leader and actress ‘Karate’ Kalyani lodged a complaint with Panjagutta police against Tollywood actor Prakash Raj, alleging that he had made derogatory and provocative remarks on Lord Rama and the Ramayana. She accused him of “cultural politics” by brainwashing children through his theatre incubator Nirdiganta and equating the sacred epic with beef‑eating at the Kerala Literature Festival.

Padala Kalyani stated in her complaint that Prakash Raj's remarks at the festival in Kozhikode in January were “highly derogatory, distorted and malicious.” She alleged that Raj openly confessed to encouraging children to write and perform anti‑Hindu plays under Nirdiganta. Police officials confirmed that they are examining the evidence. “We will take a legal opinion and act as per the law,” an officer said.

Three juveniles held for bike thefts in Kukatpally

Kukatpally police apprehended three juveniles involved in a series of automobile thefts and recovered four stolen two‑wheelers from their possession. Police said the accused, aged between 14 and 17, are students residing in Kukatpally and nearby areas. Acting on credible inputs, the Kukatpally crime team, under the supervision of senior officers, nabbed the trio near Kukatpally bus stop. Investigations connected them to four theft cases. The stolen vehicles were reported missing from Balajinagar, Gayathrinagar and Sapthagiri Colony. The accused were produced before the concerned magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

567 cases booked in tobacco crackdown

City Police seized tobacco products worth ₹1.10 crore and booked 567 cases during ‘Operation Safe School’, aimed at keeping educational institutions free from drugs and addiction. Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar said extensive searches were conducted on April 18, targeting shops selling gutka, cigarettes and other banned products near schools and colleges. “Tobacco products are the gateway to the drug epidemic. Strict action will be taken against anyone who endangers the future of students,” he warned.

Police registered 119 cases in Charminar zone, 102 in Rajendranagar, 98 in Golconda, 78 in Khairatabad, 64 in Secunderabad, 54 in Jubilee Hills and 52 in Shamshabad. The seized items included gutka, cigarettes and other tobacco products.

Cases were booked under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS), the Juvenile Justice Act (Sections 77 and 79) and the E‑Cigarettes Prohibition Act, depending on the severity of offences.

Officials said the crackdown is part of a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against shops that lure students into addiction. Many pawn shops and tea stalls near schools were also found to be unhygienic, causing inconvenience to children and women.

Three Mobile Snatchers Arrested in Kanchanbagh; 10 Phones Recovered

Kanchanbagh police arrested three persons for alleged snatching of mobile phones and produced the accused before a court for judicial remand. Police alleged that the trio targeted elderly victims in isolated localities in Telangana and AP. The accused allegedly used to distract their victim and then snatch their phones, police said.
Police the accused as Ambaga Naresh, Mekala Chiranjeev and Bandala Arun Kumar, all from AP. They were allegedly involved in snatching cases under the Jeedimetla, Patancheru, OU, Jagadgirigutta, Bhongir police limits in Telangana and Srikalahasti, Gooty in AP, ACP A. Sudhakar said.

Two Bike-Theft Accused Escape Police Custody; Caught Within Minutes

Two undertrials who managed to escape were caught and taken into police custody on Monday. Bowenpally station house officer N. Tirupathi Raju said the undertrails, suspected of bike thefts, were produced them before Secunderabad court and being shifted to the Chanchalguda prison when two of them, N. Naresh and S. Vamsi, escaped.

“Our escort constables gave chase and caught Vamsi who was trying to escape towards Madannapet. Naresh was caught on the same road a few minutes later,” Tirupathi said. The two accused, hailed from Khanapur of Nirmal district, have been booked in a new case. Another undertrial who was in the vehicle did not escape, the official said.
