Man Held for Posing as Govt Employee to Demand ₹2 Crore Dowry in Hyderabad
Accused created fake FCI ID, duped woman into engagement before misconduct raised suspicion; arrested following complaint
Hyderabad: A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly posing as a central government employee and attempting to extort a massive dowry.
The accused, identified as Panasa Madhu Goud from Cheruvupalli village in Nalgonda district, had been residing in the Alkapuri area in search of livelihood. Unable to secure a job, he reportedly fabricated a fake identity card claiming to be a Grade-3 employee at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Charlapalli.
Using the forged credentials, he convinced a family and entered into a marriage alliance with a young woman from Nalgonda district. He initially demanded ₹2 crore as dowry, later settling for ₹1.5 crore, and proceeded with the engagement.
However, suspicion arose when he allegedly behaved inappropriately after inviting the woman home under the pretext of a pre-wedding shoot. The woman’s family conducted their own inquiry and discovered that he was unemployed and had created fake documents to mislead them.
Following a complaint by the victim, police took the accused into custody and initiated further investigation.
