Man Held After 38 Plaints in Rs.45 Lakh Cyber Fraud

After Vemulawada Town Police formed a special team that arrested the four accomplices, Murali remained on the run. Technical surveillance led officers to Korutla on Monday, where he was taken into custody

Karimnagar: Rajanna Sircilla district police on Monday arrested Dasari Murali (45), the prime accused in a ₹45 lakh cyber-fraud racket that prompted 38 complaints on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal.

District SP Mahesh B. Geete told reporters that Murali — a former fast-food outlet operator from Bhiwandi, Maharashtra — led a gang with associates Vilesh Patel, Chirag Ramesh Petad, Jitendra Somabhai and Nilesh Jai Singh. Posing as high-profile clients, they duped online transaction centres into routing funds through their controlled accounts, then shared the proceeds. Local business owners in Vemulawada and Sircilla were among those defrauded.

After Vemulawada Town Police formed a special team that arrested the four accomplices, Murali remained on the run. Technical surveillance led officers to Korutla on Monday, where he was taken into custody. The operation was carried out by inspector Veerprasad, SI Ramesh, Cyber Team RSI Junaid and constables Imran and Shamee. A case under relevant cybercrime and fraud provisions has been registered.
