Man gets Life RI for Raping his Minor Daughter and forcing her to abort

Hyderabad: A 49-year-old man was not just sexually assaulting his elder daughter since she was 13 but was also recording the videos of assaults and even forced her to undergo an abortion. On Friday, XII Additional Sessions Judge T. Anitha sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of `18,000 for raping his daughter and sexually assaulting his other children.

The name of the convict is being withheld to safeguard the identity of the victim.

The investigation revealed that the convict had divorced his two wives and remarried his first wife and divorced her again. The victim's mother left the house, while the victim, her brother and her step-sister were left in his care, during which he committed the offences.

The prosecution, led by additional public prosecutor A. Ram Reddy, revealed that the victim’s testimony and the seized mobile phone, which included the video recordings of the accused engaging in sexual acts with his elder daughter, played a major role in the conviction.

Medical examinations confirmed the physical abuse and provided evidence about the sexual assaults. During the trial, the medical officer testified that she had treated the victim, who had registered under a different name, after she reported missing her periods. A scan had shown that the victim was five weeks pregnant. The court also identified through the birth certificates of the victims that they were minors at the time of the offence and that made the Pocso Act applicable. Furthermore, the accused had also admitted his offence.
