Man Gets 10 Years RI For Abetting Wife’s Suicide In Adilabad
The court examined 13 witnesses before delivering the verdict

Hyderabad: A local court in Adilabad district on Thursday sentenced a person S Himantha Rao to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) in connection with a case registered against him for harassing his wife S Roja mentally and physically, forcing her to end life in 2019.
The district assistant sessions court judge C.M. Rajyalakshmi held Himantha Rao guilty in the case registered at Jainad police station and delivered the verdict.
Following the suicide of his daughter Roja at her house in spinning mill quarters at Borajgramam, her father M Ananda Rao lodged a complaint with the police, who booked a case against Himantha Rao under Sections 498A (Dowry harassment) and 306 (Abetment of suicide) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and took up investigation.
After the police filed a charge-sheet, the court started the trial and examined 13 witnesses. The court later pronounced the judgment sentencing Himantha Rao, a spinning mill worker, to 10 years of RI.
According to police, Himantha Rao started harassing Roja within a few days after their marriage in 2013. The couple was blessed with a baby girl in 2014. Unable to bear his torture, Roja brought the matter to the notice of the elders, who asked him to mend his ways or else he would face serious consequences.
Himantha Rao assured the elders that he would take care of his wife and daughter without causing any problems. However, he did not relent. Owing to his torture, Roja ended her life in 2019. Roja’s daughter is now with her parent’s.
