Man ends life in Hyderabad after incurring debts in cricket betting

Thakur slipped into severe financial problems after indulging in cricket betting

Hyderabad: In yet another incident, a 26-year-old private employee ended his life near his residence at Suchitra junction near Jeedimetla on Friday midnight after losing money in cricket betting.

Rajveer Singh Thakur was staying with his uncle after he lost his parents in an accident three years ago. Apart from using his salary for cricket betting, Thakur used to avail loans from persons known to him and invested it in the betting.

As a result, he slipped into severe financial problems. Unable to cope up allegedly with mounting debts, Thakur ended his life near the railway tracks between Suchitra junction and BHEL. Upon receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and the body was handed over to the family members after an autopsy at the Gandhi hospital.

The Secunderabad railway police registered a case under the provisions of BNS and took up investigation.

In a similar incident, a 29-year-old person committed suicide on the railway tracks between Gundlapochampally and Medchal on March 22. He took the drastic step after sharing the location to his friends. K Someshwara Rao, a resident of Gundlapochampally, lost Rs.3 lakh through betting in the last three years.
