The investigation began after Singirikonda Gurunadham, a resident of Chakripuram, lodged a complaint on June 13 stating that his scooter had been stolen from Kushaiguda Market.
Police said the accused used duplicate keys to steal unattended two-wheelers parked in public places. He then sold the vehicles at low prices and used the money for personal expenditure. The accused was previously involved in a vehicle theft case registered at Ghatkesar police station in 2022.
Student arriving from US booked after finding live bullet in baggage
Hyderabad:A 27-year-old engineering student arriving from New Jersey in the US was booked under the Arms Act after a live bullet was found in his baggage during a security check at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad. The discovery immediately alerted security agencies, following which the passenger was detained for questioning.
The passenger was questioned by police and security officials regarding the presence of the ammunition in his luggage. During the inquiry, police found that he did not possess a valid arms licence. The student told investigators that he purchased bullets along with a gun-shaped keychain during a shooting activity in New Jersey in 2023. He claimed that one of the bullets may have inadvertently remained inside his bag and that he might have forgotten about it while travelling.
Police seized the ammunition and registered a case under Arms Act. Officials said that even accidental possession of ammunition without proper authorisation attracts legal action under existing laws.
To verify the student's version, the seized bullet has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination. Investigators said the forensic analysis will help determine the nature of the ammunition and corroborate the explanation provided by the passenger. Further investigation is underway. Police said subsequent action will be taken based on the FSL report and other findings gathered during the probe.
