Major Accident Averted As Tgsrtc Bus Stalls After Hitting Cement Ring of Well

Fifty-four passengers escape a major mishap; 13 sustain minor injuries in Karimnagar.

Karimnagar: Passengers of a TGSRTC bus had a miraculous escape after their vehicle, whose steering rod broke, hit the cement ring of a roadside well and stalled at the edge of the well.

The mishap took place on the outskirts of Sundaragiri in Chigurumamidi mandal of Karimnagar district on Wednesday.

According to police, the Husnabad depot bus had been moving towards Karimnagar along with 54 passengers. While the driver negotiated the vehicle at the Pesarapalle turning point, the steering rod broke. The bus veered off the road and stumbled towards a nearby agricultural well owned by farmer Kavati Anil Kumar.

Fortunately, the vehicle stalled on the edge after hitting the cement ring of the well, though one of the front wheels slipped over the edge into the well. Panicked passengers raised alarm for help.

Of the 54 passengers travelling in the bus, 13 sustained minor injuries. They have been shifted to the Husnabad Government Hospital through 108 ambulance services.

Chigurumamidi tahsildar Kodam Kanakaiah, sub-inspector B. Jagadeeshwar, and Husnabad bus depot manager Venkanna visited the accident spot.
