Main Roads in Adilabad Town to be Widened Into Four Lanes
Proposed airport to be connected with NH-44; villagers seek compensation as per LARR Act for their lands
ADILABAD: Development works are being taken up for the proposed joint-user airfield at Adilabad. A survey is being conducted in the villages where land is to be acquired for the project.
As per the action plan, officials are focusing on developing a road to the proposed joint-user airfield.
The state government has issued GO-36 dated July 25, sanctioning `2278.14 crore for development of the joint-user airfield at Adilabad. The government would acquire a total of 2009.23 acres, including 1609.23 acres for the Indian Air Force and 400 acres for the civil aviation enclave, MRO, cargo facilities and hangars.
The GO stated that the entire land acquisition shall be completed expeditiously, including shifting of obstacles by Dec 31.
News is that a four-lane road is planned from the proposed airport to Bhattisavargaon, connecting the NH-44 and passing through tailors colony and collectorate and Komaram Bheem Chowrasta, and the Indira Priyadarshini Road.
Another four-lane road is planned from NH-44 via Mavala and Durganagar and connecting the airport.
The Adilabad municipal and revenue officials are working on road connectivity to the proposed airport, and the existing collectorate road will be widened into a four-lane road.
The Adilabad municipal officials have asked Congress leaders to take 1 acre of land allotted for their party office in Survey no: 349, leaving the place from the existing main road at Babu Jagjivan Ram chowrasta in Adilabad town, by keeping in mind the road widening of the existing two-lane road into four-lane.
It is also said that family quarters will be constructed at three or four places for employees of different grades working in the air force.
On the other hand, revenue officials are conducting a survey of private lands to be acquired for the airport at Anukunta, which is now adjacent to the airdrome. Some 80 per cent of farmers of Anukunta village is likely to lose their land to the airport project.
Bandi Dattatri of Anukunta village that recently merged into Adilabad municipality said the revenue department is planning to acquire 877 acres of land out of 1100 acres of resident Shivarram of Anukunta village. Thus, agriculture labourers are also going to lose their livelihood.
It’s better, he said, to rehabilitate the Anukunta village to some other place with all facilities since the villagers would have nothing for their livelihood when the 877 acres of land is taken over. The main road to the Anukunta village also comes under the airport project.
Dattatri said the existing land in Anukunta is being sold for `3 crore since there is a real estate book and the state government has to pay a compensation as per the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (LARR) Act.
Allegations are that the revenue officials are not sharing any information about the lands to be acquired for the proposed airport project. Anukunta villagers said that they were experiencing nightmares and anxiety about the lands being acquired.
