Maheshwar Reddy Files Caveat In SC On Nagender Case
BJP leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy has filed a caveat in the Supreme Court after the Telangana High Court disqualified Danam Nagender as MLA.
BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy said he has filed a caveat petition in the Supreme Court in connection with the disqualification of Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, anticipating a possible appeal against the High Court’s verdict.
The Telangana High Court on Friday disqualified Nagender with retrospective effect from April 23, 2024 — the date he filed his nomination for the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket while still a BRS MLA. The court also declared the Khairatabad Assembly seat vacant, paving the way for a by‑election once the vacancy is formally notified.
Maheshwar Reddy, who along with BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy had filed the original petitions leading to Nagender’s disqualification, moved the Supreme Court with a caveat to ensure he is heard before any interim relief or stay is granted if Nagender challenges the High Court order.
Civil Supplies rolls out ‘SHT’ strategy
HYDERABAD: Gearing up for the Kharif season 2026‑27, the civil supplies department has activated state‑wide procurement protocols, anticipating 65 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy arrivals. Officials said the government is enforcing a new ‘SHT’ (Storage, Hamali, Transport) strategy to eliminate supply chain leakages, ensure rapid lifting and protect farmers from delays.
The Telangana State Warehousing Corporation (TGSWC) is executing repairs at facilities and setting up scientific Cover and Plinth (CAP) storage. Inter‑departmental coordination has been intensified to secure hamali workforce across procurement points.
Commissioner M. Stephen Raveendra mandated technological interventions in transport. All vehicles must be equipped with GPS‑based Vehicle Location Tracking Systems (VLTS) to ensure transparency and prevent diversion of stocks.
Ground‑level accountability is being strengthened through a Physical Verification mobile application. Supervisory officers must conduct surprise inspections at mills using the tool. Any PPC in‑charge caught generating fake procurement sheets will face legal action.
To safeguard yield from unseasonal rains, centres are being modernised with calibrated moisture meters, industrial cleaners and dryers. Officials said the measures will protect grain quality and farmers’ produce at every stage of the supply chain.
