Following a weather department warning, the MLA visited low-lying areas and inspected the overflowing Munneru Vagu: Reports

WARANGAL: Congress MLA from Mahbubabad, Dr Bhukya Murali Naik, urged the public to remain alert and cautious as heavy rains continue in the district. He advised people to stay away from overflowing streams and low-lying areas to avoid danger.
Following a weather department warning, the MLA visited low-lying areas and inspected the overflowing Munneru Vagu. He also performed special prayers at the stream, seeking the safety and well-being of the people on Sunday.
Dr Naik directed officials from the police, revenue, electricity, municipal and irrigation departments to take all necessary measures to prevent loss of life or property. He said the government has set up special relief centres for residents of low-lying areas and established a control room at the Collector’s office to provide emergency assistance.
He also urged people to avoid risky activities such as taking selfies or fishing near overflowing streams, and to keep away from electricity poles during the rains.
Meanwhile, continuous rainfall for the past four days has severely affected Bayyaram mandal. The Bayyaram Pedda Cheruvu is overflowing by five feet, disrupting transport between Mahbubabad and Yellandu. Floodwaters have reached the national highway near Namalapadu village, bringing traffic to a standstill. Police have been deployed at the lake’s overflow point to monitor the situation.
Superintendent of police Sudheer Ramnath Kekan also visited key locations in Maripeda mandal to review preventive measures. He inspected the Yarijerla Lake and the Purushottama Gudem bridge and issued instructions to local police officials to ensure public safety.
