Mahabubabad MP Seeks Railway Locomotive POH or Wagon Workshop
MP Naik urged SCR authorities to seriously consider his proposal and take the necessary steps to establish either a Locomotive POH workshop or a wagon workshop at the Mahbubabad district headquarters.

Karimnagar: Congress MP from Mahbubabad, Porika Balram Naik, on Wednesday wrote to the general manager of South Central Railways (SCR) requesting the establishment of a new railway workshop at the district headquarters, a facility that would greatly benefit the local Scheduled Tribe community.
He noted that although the Centre had planned a workshop at Kazipet under the Mission 3,000 MT initiative, the project was stopped due to a lack of available government land. Consequently, he proposed constructing either a Locomotive Periodic Overhauling (POH) workshop capable of servicing 100 electric locomotives or a wagon workshop in Mahabubabad.
Naik highlighted that approximately 200 acres of railway land near Tallapoosa Palli station and over 400 acres of government land adjacent to Mahbubabad station are available, both with adequate water and electricity infrastructure. He also pointed out that Mahbubabad station offers direct rail connections to major cities such as Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
As a tribal-dominated district, Mahbubabad stands to gain significantly from such a project, which would generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs for local youth, particularly members of Scheduled Tribes, and spur regional economic development.
MP Naik urged SCR authorities to seriously consider his proposal and take the necessary steps to establish either a Locomotive POH workshop or a wagon workshop at the Mahbubabad district headquarters.
