Mahabubabad: Mother and Son Found Dead in Pond
Mother, son who went to graze cattle fail to return home; bodies recovered during search
Mahabubabad: A 30-year-old woman and her nine-year-old son were found dead in a pond at Piligundla Thanda in Kuravi mandal on Thursday night after they failed to return home after going out to graze cattle.
They had left home in the morning but did not return by evening. When repeated calls to the woman’s mobile phone went unanswered, relatives and villagers began searching the surrounding areas.
During the search, the boy’s slippers and clothes were found near Mogilicherla Reddy Kunta, raising fears that the two could have met with an accident. Villagers searched the pond and recovered the bodies.
Some villagers suspected that the boy might have accidentally fallen into the pond and that his mother could have drowned while attempting to rescue him. Others raised doubts over the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Police reached the spot, collected details from family members and villagers and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination. An investigation is under way to ascertain the cause of the deaths.
