The youngest central committee (CC) member of the banned Maoists, Madvi Hidma, is likely to be appointed as general secretary of the outfit following the death of Nambala Keshav, alias Basavaraj, in an encounter in Chhattisgarh.

Hyderabad:The youngest central committee (CC) member of the banned Maoists, Madvi Hidma, is likely to be appointed as general secretary of the outfit following the death of Nambala Keshav, alias Basavaraj, in an encounter in Chhattisgarh.

A day after 27 Maoists, including Basavaraj, were killed, the police identified the deceased on Thursday.

Speculation is rife about Basavaraj's successor. Sources said 45-year-old Madvi Hidma is likely to be elected as general secretary. Hidma joined the party after finishing his Class X and is native of Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. According to police, Hidma actively participated in 26 attacks on security forces. He is mostly active in Dantewada and Sukma localities.

"The central committee members -- Tippari Tirupati, 67, Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy alias Kosa, 76. Pulliri Prasad, 66 are aged persons and reportedly suffering due to ill health. Hidma is an active member and there are speculations that the party may appoint him," sources said.
