Madiga Community Leaders Demand Fair Share in Telangana

Hyderabad: Leaders from the Madiga community of Telangana sought their due share as per their share in the population, which they placed at 12 per cent.

At a meeting of community members at the Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan in Banjara Hills, AICC secretary Dr S.A. Sampath Kumar was exhorted by the leaders to stand by them. He said he would meet Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on August 13 to discuss the issue of categorisation of Scheduled Caste communities for the purpose of reservations, following the Supreme Court judgement on the matter.

Addressing the gathering, Sampath Kumar said, “If Narendra Modi has any love for the Madigas then he should implement the judgment in Central government jobs immediately. Madiga intellectuals, lawyers and leaders should be together and give voice to the opinions and interests of the community. The time for getting justice has come after years of struggle.”

Among those who participated were former minister A. Chandrasekhar, former SC Corporation chairman Pidamarthi Ravi, TPCC general secretary C. Venkatesh and Madiga Satheesh.
