Love Triangle Murder Case Nears Conviction

"So far, 40 witnesses have been examined. The rest are scheduled, and we expect conviction within a month or two”: investigating Officer

HYDERABAD: The sensational love triangle murder case, in which an engineering student killed his friend, suspecting he was harassing the former’s girlfriend, is nearing conviction. The trial of the case, which shook the city in 2023, is currently underway at the SC/ST Court in LB Nagar. The case is at the stage of witness examination.

The incident came to light in February 2023 when Abdullapurmet police registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC along with relevant provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, following the disappearance of 22-year-old Nunawat Naveen.

During the investigation, the accused, Hari Hara Krishna, then 21 and a final-year engineering student, confessed to the murder. He revealed that he killed Naveen, dismembered his body and disposed of the parts in isolated areas of Abdullapurmet. The confession sent hockwaves throughout the state.

Hari Hara Krishna and Naveen had been friends for several years. Both were engineering students, though from different colleges. Naveen had previously been in a relationship with a girl, which ended due to personal differences. The girl later became close to Hari Hara Krishna.

Tensions escalated when Hari Hara Krishna observed that Naveen was still calling and texting the girl. She reportedly acted up and told him that Naveen was harassing her, which allegedly led the accused to plot the murder.

On his birthday, Hari Hara Krishna invited Naveen to meet him at Pedda Amberpet. Naveen travelled from Narketpally, unaware of the plan. Once they met, Hari Hara Krishna strangled him, dismembered the body and scattered the remains in different locations. During the investigation, it was also revealed that the accused took his girlfriend to the location where the body parts were disposed of. She was later arrested and remains one of the accused in the case.

An officer involved in the investigation said, “We recovered multiple severed body parts during the probe. The case involves 54 witnesses, including police officials, panchanama witnesses, and family members of both the accused and the deceased. So far, 40 witnesses have been examined. The rest are scheduled, and we expect conviction within a month or two.”

The accused, Hari Hara Krishna, has been in jail for two years. He was granted conditional bail briefly to appear for an exam and has since been remanded back to judicial custody.

A case is registered with Bhongir Rural police under attempt to murder charges against he accused husband Ravi, his brother and two other friends and were arrested.
