HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway witnessed severe traffic snarls on Friday as thousands of city residents began travelling to their hometowns ahead of an extended three-day festive weekend.
With Second Saturday, Sunday, and Vinayaka Chavithi on Monday offering back-to-back holidays, a surge of outward-bound vehicular traffic led to massive gridlocks, particularly near Hayathnagar on the city's outskirts.
Bumper-to-bumper traffic left commuters stranded for hours, slowing vehicles to a crawl along key exit points. Traffic police personnel were deployed in large numbers along the stretch to clear bottlenecks, manage toll plaza congestion, and regulate the flow of vehicles.
