Lokayukta Takes Serious View Over Unauthorised Floor at Property at Niloufer Chath

Upa Lokayukta Jagjeevan Kumar directed the civic authorities to submit the report over the alleged unauthorised construction of a terrace floor at property bearing 8-2-685/P2, Road No. 12, Banjara hills.

Hyderabad:The Telangana Lokayukta has taken a serious view of the lack of action of GHMC Jubilee Hills officials, alleging that they were in cahoots with those carrying out unauthorised constructions and allowing the work to continue despite status quo orders issued by the Telangana High Court.

Upa Lokayukta Jagjeevan Kumar directed the civic authorities to submit the report over the alleged unauthorised construction of a terrace floor at property bearing 8-2-685/P2, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, in which ‘Niloufer Chath’, a multi-cuisine restaurant, was run by the Café Niloufer group.

The Upa Lokayukta was dealing with a complaint filed by U. Chandra Shekar against the inaction of the deputy commissioner of GHMC, assistant city planner of the town planning section of Jubilee Hills circle in allowing the construction despite of the status quo orders by the High Court and allowing for commercial activities in the unauthorised construction.

Immaneni Rama Rao, counsel for the petitioner, submitted that in August 2025, the High Court had issued the status quo orders on the construction of the terrace floor on the property; however, the authorities allowed the work to be completed and gave permission to conduct the commercial activities. Counsel explained to the media that the Upa Lokayukta had also sought an action taken report against the errant officials, who were hand in glove with the violators.
