Lok Adalat Orders Refund of Rs 45.21 Crore To Cyber Fraud Victims

More than 6,300 victims received refunds through a coordinated effort involving TGCSB, legal services authorities, banks and police units.

HYDERABAD: Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), in coordination with Telangana State Legal Services Authority, banks, digital payment providers, police commissionerates and district units, facilitated refunds of Rs 45.21 crore to 6,303 cyber fraud victims through a Lok Adalat held across the state.

TGCSB said the initiative enabled thousands of victims to receive financial relief through a mechanism involving law enforcement, judiciary and banking institutions. Officials said the exercise reflects Telangana’s efforts to ensure timely recovery of money lost in online frauds and scams.

Among the top‑performing units, Cyberabad facilitated refunds worth Rs 21.91 crore to 2,232 victims. TGCSB handled Rs 6.83 crore for 77 victims, Malkajgiri secured Rs 4.04 crore for 779 victims, Hyderabad Commissionerate facilitated Rs 3.22 crore for 755 victims and Sangareddy accounted for Rs 1.69 crore benefiting 167 victims.

Since the inception of the Lok Adalat‑based recovery mechanism, the state has facilitated the return of Rs 445.41 crore to 59,953 victims. Year‑wise recoveries stood at Rs 8.36 crore in 2023, Rs 183.9 crore in 2024, Rs 182.9 crore in 2025 and Rs 70.07 crore till June 20 this year.

TGCSB advised citizens not to share OTPs, passwords, PINs or banking details with unknown persons and urged victims to immediately report incidents through the 1930 helpline or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal within the golden hour to improve chances of recovery.
