Loan App Harassment Case Filed In Boduppal

Boduppal police booked unidentified persons for allegedly harassing a woman over a relative’s loan and threatening her with morphed images of her minor daughter.

Boduppal police registered a case against unidentified persons for harassing a woman over a loan taken by her relative and threatening her with morphed nude photographs of her minor daughter.

The 42‑year‑old woman, a resident of Rajalingam Colony, approached police after receiving repeated threatening calls from persons claiming to be associated with the Vardhan loan app.

According to her complaint, she received calls on August 30 and 31 from multiple international numbers. The callers said her relative had obtained a loan through the app and failed to repay it. Despite her clarifying that the loan was not hers, the callers demanded repayment and continued to abuse her over the phone.

The situation escalated when the unidentified persons sent morphed nude photographs of her Class 10 daughter through WhatsApp, threatening to circulate them unless the loan was repaid. The complainant alleged she and her daughter faced severe harassment and intimidation through the use of the images.

She later received another call from a different number but did not answer, fearing further harassment. The woman then approached Medipally police and lodged a complaint seeking action against those misusing her daughter’s photographs.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered under BNS Section 75 and Section 66E of the Information Technology Act. Investigation is underway.
