Lineman assaulted in Malkajgiri
According to the police, Redya Nayak, 39, an assistant lineman, went to the house of M. Sandeep in Sathi Reddynagar. As Nayak disconnected the power supply, Sandeep confronted Nayak, abused him and slapped him.

Hyderabad:A Malkajgiri resident slapped an assistant lineman of the power board for disconnecting electricity supply due to unpaid bills for two months.
According to the police, Redya Nayak, 39, an assistant lineman, went to the house of M. Sandeep in Sathi Reddynagar. As Nayak disconnected the power supply, Sandeep confronted Nayak, abused him and slapped him.
Nayak immediately reported the incident to his line inspector, assistant engineer and sub-engineer. The trio then went to Sandeep's house, where he continued to abuse them.
Nayak then reported the assault to the police, and a case was registered under charges of intentional insult, provocation of a breach of peace and causing harm to public servants.
Woman lost Rs 13.7 L to ticket reservation scam
Hyderabad:An Uppal resident reached out to Rachakonda cybercrime police after she fell victim to an online scam and lost `13.7 lakh. The scam offered the victim a part-time earning opportunity by making online ticket reservations.
The complainant, a homemaker, was invited to join a group on a social messaging platform where she interacted with someone identified as K. Sanjana. The fraudster offered an online job as an agent to make holiday reservations.
The complainant made 25 reservations in Set 1 and received a commission of `946. She was asked to pay `7,000 to renew her membership and continue making reservations. The fraudster continued to manipulate her into paying higher amounts, promising even larger returns.
Reservations and investments kept continuing, but she was not allowed to withdraw real money. When asked, they were only pointing towards additional payments. Realising she was duped, she filed the complaint with the cybercrime wing in Rachakonda commissionerate and a probe is underway.
Man dies in RTC bus accident at Kuntloor crossroads
Hyderabad: Kuncham Mallayya, 45, from Raavipahad in Nalgonda died at the Kuntloor crossoads in Hayathnagar on Friday evening when a RTC driver hit his bike. Hayathanagar police registered a case against the driver and reportedly detained him. Locals immediately alerted the police and ambulance services.
217 old cases convicted at railway court in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Junior Magistrate First Class Ghouse Pasha of the railway Court convicted 217 old bail-out cases of Hayathnagar and Bhongir on Friday. A fine of `66,860 was collected at the hearing. The camp court was aimed at addressing long-pending legal cases.
Four-year-old girl attacked by stray dogs in Rajendranagar
Hyderabad:A four-year-old girl sustained injuries in an attack by two stray dogs in Rajendranagar’s Golden Heights Colony on Friday morning. The minor was shifted to a hospital for treatment and sent home later. The family chose not to lodge a police complaint.
A viral video of the incident shows the girl walking on the road when the two dogs try to chase her. They later start to drag her toward a car through her leg. Her screams attract locals who rescue the girl. A woman is seen driving the dogs away.
GHMC chief veterinary officer Abdul Wakil said the dogs were sterilised and sent to the animal care centre in Chudi Bazaar for observation.
YouTuber charged for uploading Pushpa-2
Hyderabad: The city cybercrime police on Friday registered criminal cases against a YouTuber for allegedly illegally uploading a pirated video of the Telugu film Pushpa-2. Police were acting on a complaint by Mythri Movie Makers who alleged that they faced a loss of `50 crore.
Several BRS, BJP activists detained
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad briefly detained several BRS and BJP activists who tried to obstruct Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's programme of laying the foundation stone for a new building for the Osmania General Hospital at Goshamahal on Friday. Police also placed BJP MLA T. Raja Singh under house arrest.
Man arrested for duping netizens
Hyderabad: The CID cybercrime wing on Friday arrested Naresh Patidar, 25, of Rajasthan for duping netizens of money by falsely promising to provide female escorts. Police said he operated on social media. After collecting money for female escorts, he would change his phone numbers.
Cops rewarded for meritorious service
Hyderabad:City police commissioner on Friday presented rewards to 706 officers and personnel for meritorious service in detecting cases last year. They include six additional DCPs, 13 ACPs, 73 inspectors, 83 SIs, 12 assistant SIs, 86 head constables, 334 constables, 29 home guards, 64 ministerial staff and six public prosecutors and assistant public prosecutors.
Taking the new age challenges being faced by the CCS and cybercrimes police into consideration, Anand instituted the Commissioner’s Trophy.
