LIG Indiramma Housing Scheme Under CURE to Be Launched Today

The Telangana government will launch the Indiramma LIG Housing Scheme under CURE on Monday, with plans to build one lakh houses for low-income families in Hyderabad and other urban areas.

Housing minister Ponguleti on Sunday said the government plans to construct one lakh houses within the city limits under the Indiramma LIG (Low-Income Group) Housing Scheme, which will be launched on Monday

Construction will begin with an allocation of 500 houses per constituency in the first phase.

Ahead of the launch of the housing programme in the city, the minister noted that while the government had previously focused on rural areas, it would realise the dream of the poor families living in Hyderabad and other urban areas.

The application process, eligibility criteria, and the program brochure are expected to be released on Monday.

According to the minister, the government has identified prime locations worth crores of rupees within the city for housing the poor and has acquired land parcels ranging from 1 to 5 acres in these areas, depending on local conditions.

The minister clarified that, unlike previous governments, housing projects are being undertaken close to the areas where the poor currently reside, rather than far away from the city. He stated that plans have been formulated to ensure there is no disruption to families' livelihoods, children's education, or employment opportunities.

The minister said that multi-storied buildings (up to 10 floors) equipped with modern amenities would be constructed to provide a dignified life for every poor family. The aspirants should submit their applications within their respective constituencies.
