Leopard Dies in Road Accident on NH-44
Passersby who spotted the carcass informed forest officials

NIZAMABAD: A leopard was killed in a road accident near Chandrayanpally village under the Indalwai forest range on National Highway 44 in the early hours of Wednesday. The animal, believed to be a three-year-old male, was hit by an unidentified vehicle while attempting to cross the highway. Passersby who spotted the carcass informed forest officials. The body was later shifted to the Tirmanpally central nursery for a post-mortem examination.
Forest officials suspect the leopard was crossing from the Indalwai reserve forest when the incident occurred. This marks the third such incident in the same area, with two leopards previously killed in similar accidents. Indalwai forest range officer Ravi Mohan Bhatt told Deccan Chronicle that caution boards for wild animal crossings have already been installed in the area. He added that the accident likely occurred during the early hours of the day.
