Laxman Flays ‘Cong.–MIM Pact’
Speaking at a BJP campaign meeting for the Jubilee Hills bypoll, Laxman urged voters to reject religion-based politics and support BJP candidate Deepak Reddy.

Hyderabad:BJP OBC Morcha national president Dr K. Laxman criticised the Congress for reviving its alliance with MIM, accusing both of indulging in appeasement politics that once marked its ties with BRS. Speaking at a BJP campaign meeting for the Jubilee Hills bypoll, Laxman urged voters to reject religion-based politics and support BJP candidate Deepak Reddy.
He said the by-election was a contest between the appeasement politics of Congress–MIM and the development agenda of the BJP, warning that their tie-up posed a threat to Telangana’s progress. Recalling past instances of MIM influence under Congress governments, he alleged that “MIM’s control from Darussalam continues, even now under Congress rule.” He accused the ruling party of fielding an MIM-backed candidate “in disguise” to derail the state’s development.
Citing the BJP’s governance model in Uttar Pradesh, Laxman said Telangana needed similar transformation, blaming both Congress and BRS for corruption and rising debts. “The people want change. The progress in UP under the BJP must be replicated here,” he said. He praised Union minister G. Kishan Reddy’s work in Secunderabad and said Jubilee Hills could see similar development if the BJP wins. “Deepak Reddy’s victory will bring the same progress,” he said.
Expressing concern over gun culture and drug abuse among youth, Laxman said, “Alcohol and drugs are destroying Hyderabad. Only the BJP’s return can bring relief.” He said the bypoll would mark a turning point with voters choosing development over appeasement.
Palamuru dists chosen for agri growth plan: Aruna
Hyderabad:BJP vice-president and Mahbubnagar MP D.K. Aruna hailed the Centre’s inclusion of Narayanapet, Gadwal and Nagarkurnool — districts from the Palamuru region — along with Jangaon, in the list of 100 aspirational agriculture districts under the PM Dhan Danya Krishi Yojana.
The districts will receive dedicated funding for modern farm equipment, welfare schemes and mechanisation over six years. Aruna thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, saying the initiative would boost loans, modernisation and long-overdue agricultural development in the region.
She urged people to take part in the October 31 nationwide celebration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary. Releasing a poster for Sardar@150 Unity March with party leaders Srinivas Reddy, Kota Nayak and others, Aruna said, “Patel’s spirit of unity is our responsibility to uphold.”
An eight-kilometre Ekta Rally will be held on October 31 from the stadium grounds to Pillalamarri Road, with similar rallies across districts till November 25. Other events include health camps, essay contests, anti-drug pledges, and cultural programmes highlighting Patel’s ideals.
Congress forgot 6 guarantees: BJP chief
Hyderabad:Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao alleged that the Congress has sidelined its six election guarantees and launched a new set of promises only for the Jubilee Hills bypoll. Addressing a press meet, Rao said the “new manifesto” ignores key public issues and exposes the Congress’s failure to deliver on earlier commitments.
He cited a collapse in law and order, referring to the recent attack on a DCP and MIM leaders’ sympathy for those booked in police firing cases. “The injured officer was neglected while political appeasement took precedence,” Rao said, calling it a reflection of the Congress–MIM governance model.
Rao urged voters to reject Congress’s lawlessness and choose peace and the rule of law. He said formal warnings had been submitted to the DGP about the deteriorating situation, but the government remained indifferent. He accused Congress of failing farmers, students, employees, and police personnel while neglecting martyrs. “BRS is now irrelevant — a car permanently parked in a shed,” he remarked.
Rao said farmers were forced to protest for paddy procurement as purchase centres remain closed. “Last time BRS jailed farmers, now Congress has pushed them onto the streets,” he said. He added that `12,000 crore in retirement dues and five DA instalments were pending. Rao urged citizens to reflect on the state’s direction before voting.
Earlier, he paid tributes to tribal hero Komaram Bheem on his death anniversary, recalling his Jal–Jangal–Jameen slogan and thanking the Prime Minister for honouring him in Mann Ki Baat.

He earlier collected `30,000 online and `10,000 in cash, and agreed to settle for `15,000 of the remaining `20,000. The complainant alerted the ACB, which arrested him while receiving the money. Rao was produced in court for remand.
4 held for 'cash-doubling' fraud
Hyderabad:Cyberabad police arrested four men, including a make-up artist, for cheating people by claiming they could double their money through a “barish puja.” The accused — Mohammad Irfan, 44, Gugoloth Ravindhar, 40, Kavira Sai Baba, 41, and Thakur Manohar Singh, 30 — lured victims by promising to multiply cash kept during rituals. After the “pooja,” they served intoxicant-laced sweets and milk as prasadam, making victims unconscious before fleeing with their money.
Police recovered Rs 8.5 lakh, a country-made weapon, and a knife from Irfan. A fifth accused, Abdul Kayyoom of Uttar Pradesh, is absconding, said Medchal DCP N. Koti Reddy. An attention-diversion case reported on October 18 at Gandimaisamma crossroads led police to the gang, who were traced and arrested.
