Land Acquisition Begins for Adilabad Industrial Park
Farmers have been given 60 days from the date of notification to raise objections.

Adilabad: The state government has initiated land acquisition for a proposed industrial park in Adilabad district, with the revenue department issuing a preliminary notification on May 29 for acquisition of 1,194.10 acres from 299 farmers at Hathighat village in Bhoraj mandal.
Officials indicated that subsequent notifications will follow as part of the acquisition process. Farmers have been given 60 days from the date of notification to raise objections.
The identified land includes agricultural patta lands, assigned lands and barren tracts. The list also covers holdings of small, marginal and large farmers, as well as lands owned by a cement factory and irrigated parcels.
Compensation will be paid in accordance with the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Telangana Amendment) Act, 2016, officials said.
The proposed industrial park is expected to generate employment for local youth and support economic activity in Adilabad district, which lies between Nagpur and Hyderabad. The area has connectivity to NH 44 and a nearby railway station located about 10 km away.
Agriculture in surrounding mandals, including Adilabad, Jainad, Bheempur and Tamsi, is dominated by cotton and soya cultivation. Officials indicated that agriculture-based industries may be established in the park, with water availability expected from the Korara-Chanaka barrage on the Penganga river.
Farmers said compensation should reflect differences between agricultural and barren land, expressing concern that proposed rates may be lower than prevailing market prices.
There were also allegations that lands held by some political leaders through benami arrangements were included in the acquisition list. No official response was available on these claims.
