Ladies Day Draws Thousands at Numaish 2026

Central zone DCP K. Shilpavalli, who attended as chief guest, said the exclusive event created a dedicated space for women.

Hyderabad: Thousands of women thronged the 85th All India Industrial Exhibition (Numaish) on Tuesday for the special Ladies’ Day celebrations.

The programme began around 4.30 pm, with students from institutions supported by the Exhibition Society presenting dance performances that continued through the evening.

Central zone DCP K. Shilpavalli, who attended as chief guest, said the exclusive event created a dedicated space for women. “This one day gives women an opportunity to enjoy themselves, and even for SHE Teams, it is comparatively peaceful with fewer complaints. Women should be a support system for other women. Such events create an empowered environment in society and reflect the recognition and trust placed in women across different roles,” she said, urging participants to enjoy the occasion.

Anchored in the Telangana accent, the programme drew considerable attention and kept the audience engaged.

B. Sharanya, a second-year B.Com student from one of the Exhibition Society’s colleges, said students eagerly awaited the event each year. “We come annually, and when our college brings us, entry is free. We shop for clothes and other necessities,” she said.

Compared to other days, the crowd appeared relatively thinner, with several small stalls yet to open. Stall owners said they would begin operations later in the week.

Rekha, a visitor, said she made it a point to attend the women-only day. “I remember that the first Tuesday is for women after the exhibition opens. I come with my daughters, and it feels safe,” she said.

There was some commotion outside the entry gates as college students and families arrived with male members, who were asked by security personnel to wait outside. A few men were seen entering after 6 pm, citing reasons such as accompanying infants, which made it difficult for women alone to manage during the visit.

Meanwhile, central zone police conducted an awareness session on cybercrime, cautioning women against opening suspicious links or responding to fraudulent calls, particularly those falsely claiming that their children had been arrested.
