Two Inter Students Killed After Tipper Hits Bike
On receiving information, police shifted the bodies to Gandhi Hospital for post‑mortem examination
HYDERABAD: Two Intermediate second‑year students died and another sustained injuries after a tipper lorry hit their motorcycle near Kukatpally Metro Pillar No. 796 in the early hours of Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Begari Mahesh, a student of Amogha Junior College, Ameerpet, and Manne Laxmi Teja, a student of Aroma Junior College, Ameerpet. The injured Puli Kiran Kumar, a student of Amrutha Junior College, was shifted to hospital for treatment. All three, aged 17, were residents of Brahmashankar Nagar in Yousufguda.
According to the complaint lodged by Mahesh’s father, Begari Sanganna, the three friends had left their homes around 4 am to play cricket. Before heading to the ground, they decided to have tea at a café in Kukatpally. Kiran was riding the motorcycle, with Mahesh seated in the middle and Laxmi Teja riding pillion. None of them were wearing helmets.
Police said that while they were travelling from Moosapet towards KPHB, they reached Metro Pillar No. 796 at around 4.55 am. A tipper lorry, being driven at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, turned abruptly to the right and struck the left side of the motorcycle.
The impact threw all three onto the road. While Kiran fell to the right and suffered head injuries, Mahesh and Laxmi Teja fell to the left. The rear wheel of the tipper allegedly ran over both teenagers, causing fatal injuries. They died on the spot.
On receiving information, police shifted the bodies to Gandhi Hospital for post‑mortem examination, while the injured youth was admitted for treatment.
A case has been registered against the tipper driver, and further investigation is underway.
The vehicle has been charged with multiple violations, including wrong parking in the carriageway and entry restrictions for lorries, tractors and heavy vehicles ranging from 2023 to 2026. Most of the pending challans were booked in Miyapur, Gachibowli, Narsingi, Ramachandrapuram and Madhapur traffic police limits.
