KTR Sidelines Kavitha in TBGKS, Appoints Eshwar

Reports from the coal belt suggest that Eshwar’s appointment was timed to counter Kavitha’s efforts to assert control over the union.

Adilabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao has sidelined his sister, TBGKS honorary president MLC K. Kavitha, by appointing former minister Koppula Eshwar as the party’s in-charge of the Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangam. The decision highlights the ongoing power struggle between Rama Rao and Kavitha.

At a TBGKS meeting chaired by Rama Rao on Wednesday at Telangana Bhavan, leaders agreed to intensify the union’s activities under Eshwar’s leadership and to convene a major gathering soon in the coal-belt region, without consulting Kavitha. Rama Rao also directed TBGKS president Miryala Raji Reddy to coordinate with local BRS MLAs, former ministers, and party in‑charges to mobilise coal workers statewide.

A founding member of the TBGKS, Eshwar has longstanding ties to Singareni coal workers, having worked in the mines himself before entering politics. Observers say his elevation deepens the rift between Rama Rao and Kavitha and are watching closely for her response.

Reports from the coal belt suggest that Eshwar’s appointment was timed to counter Kavitha’s efforts to assert control over the union. A senior TBGKS leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, added that some members hesitated to meet Kavitha, fearing they would be labelled her supporters amid her public fallout with Rama Rao.
