KTR Keeps Up Demand for Pumping Water From Medigadda
BRS leader says Kaleshwaram water must be lifted amid El Niño-hit monsoon conditions.

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Monday made it clear that the party was in no mood to drop its demand for pumping of Godavari water from the Kannepalli pumphouse near the Medigadda barrage, and further pumping from Annaram and Sundilla barrage pump houses. He declared that this was required in view of the drought-like conditions developing in the state because of El Niño-hit monsoon rains.
Rama Rao was addressing party leaders and workers at an event at Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters, where a prominent businessman from Banswada, Moril Srinivas, joined the BRS. He said former Speaker and Banswada MLA, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, who defected to the Congress, “boarded a sinking ship” and called on party workers to ensure Pocharam’s defeat in the next elections.
“Instead of repairing the damaged Medigadda barrage, the Congress government is politicising the Kaleshwaram project, in a bid to divert attention from its inefficiency. The government’s deliberate decision not to lift water was to deny irrigation to farmers and to discourage cultivation as it is not in any position to provide fertilizers like urea, supply adequate power, or procure crops,” he said.
