KTR Blames Congress for 'Drought-Like' Conditions in Telangana

He alleged that the government was deliberately avoiding filling the Yellampalli project by lifting the water from the Godavari, leaving farmers to suffer.

Adilabad:BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday claimed that the Congress government’s actions had brought drought-like conditions to the state, and not nature. He said that utilising the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme (KLIS) was the permanent solution to the drought and alleged that the Congress government was avoiding repairs to the project barrages.

Rama Rao was speaking at Rythu Sadassu in Luxettipet in Mancherial district after extending financial help of `5 lakh each to the family members of four farmers who died in a wall collapse during rain on May 6.

He alleged that the government was deliberately avoiding filling the Yellampalli project by lifting the water from the Godavari, leaving farmers to suffer. He criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for allegedly cheating all sections of people with false promises.

“The Congress government will face opposition from the unemployed youth like the BJP-led Centre is facing in Delhi.” Rama Rao said. He asked government officials and staff not to work for the Congress but for the public. “Youth under the leadership of KCR will revolt against the Congress,” he observed.

Rama Rao asked Mancherial Congress MLA K. Premsagar Rao to fulfil the promises made to the people during the elections, and said the BRS would not tolerate harassment of party leaders and cadre. BRS MLA Kova Laxmi party leaders Koppula Eshwar, Jogu Ramanna, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Jeevan Reddy, Balka Suman, Nadipelli Diwakar Rao, Koneru Konappa, Durgam Chinnaiah and Kyathanpalli Municipal Chairman Sandhya Rani were present.
