Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Friday charged the Congress government with betraying its promise to grant ownership rights to those who were assigned land. The government was acquiring the land assigned to Dalit, tribal and poor families under the guise of establishing industrial parks.
Addressing a party leaders and workers meeting in Parigi, Rama Rao said, “if the government is genuinely committed to industrial development, it should first issue pattas to eligible beneficiaries, pay fair compensation and acquire land only with the consent of the farmers.”
Rama Rao who alleged that forcible takeover of assigned land with the local MLA playing an active role in Parigi constituency, recalled that anyone opposed to the government moves was being targeted as was with the case of farmers from Lagacherla village where those protesting were subjected to police cases, harassment and physical attacks.
