Konda Surekha Welcomes Decision to Celebrate Bathukamma Festival in Warangal
The celebrations will be organized from September 21 to 30

Hyderabad: Telangana Endowments Minister Konda Surekha has welcomed the Tourism department’s decision to celebrate the Bathukamma festival in Warangal this year.
She thanked the Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and Telangana Tourism Corporation Managing Director Valluri Kranthi for taking the decision. She described Warangal, also known as Orugallu, as the land of women fighters like Rani Rudrama, Sammakka-Sarakka, Chakali Ilamma, and Hajare Mangamma, and said it is an honor that such a cultural festival is being celebrated in this historic city.
The poster unveiling program of Bathukamma was held at the Telangana State Secretariat on Monday under the Tourism department. Minister Krishna Rao and Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Dhanasari Anasuya (Seethakka), Valluri Kranthi, Cultural Department Director Mamidi Harikrishna, and Bathukamma festival organizer Dillishwari participated in the event along with Konda Surekha.
As part of the schedule, the celebrations will take place from September 21 to September 30. The festivities will begin on September 21 at the historic Thousand Pillar Temple in Warangal, marking the city’s first-ever official hosting of Bathukamma under the Tourism department.
From September 22 to 24, the festival will be celebrated across important temples, tourist attractions, and cultural centers in three to four districts each day, showcasing the rich traditions of Telangana.
Speaking on the occasion, Surekha said that Bathukamma was not just a festival but a celebration of Telangana’s identity and self-respect. She explained that it is a unique tradition where women play a central role, bringing families and communities together through flowers, songs, and dance.
She further said that the government is determined to showcase Telangana’s culture and traditions at an international level. Highlighting the significance of Bathukamma, she described it as a festival that reflects harmony with nature, flowers, and the environment, spreading fragrance in every household across the state.
Surekha expressed confidence that with the support of the Tourism department and the people of Warangal, the festival will be celebrated on a grand scale and become a memorable event.
