Komatireddy: Will Develop Nalgonda Into a Smart City
The minister recalled that the recent Winter Session of the Assembly had cleared a Bill to upgrade Nalgonda municipality into a municipal corporation

Nalgonda: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Thursday revealed that he intended to transform Nalgonda into a smart city.
Inaugurating a 1,100-kilolitre capacity overhead tank under the drinking water supply scheme at Anneshwaramgutta in Nalgonda, taken up at a cost of ₹1.45 crore under AMRUT Scheme-2, the minister recalled that the recent Winter Session of the Assembly had cleared a Bill to upgrade Nalgonda municipality into a municipal corporation. He said the government was committed to developing Nalgonda as a smart city with no deficiencies in civic amenities. With the upgradation, Nalgonda will attain municipal corporation status and elect its first mayor in the forthcoming municipal elections.
He said underground drainage and drinking water supply works are being implemented in Nalgonda at a cost of ₹272 crore, while road works and drainage canals are being taken up with ₹53 crore from Telangana Urban Finance Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (TUFIDC) funds. Concrete cement roads are also being laid in various colonies at a cost of ₹109 crore. In addition, works on the Outer Ring Road would be taken up shortly with an estimated outlay of ₹900 crore.
Later, inaugurating a two-day inter-school sports meet at Vipasya School in Charlapally, Nalgonda district, the minister said maintaining a balance between academic curricula and sports was essential for the all-round development of students. He said sports help instil discipline, resilience and confidence, preparing students to face life’s challenges.
He further stated that Young India Integrated Residential Schools are being constructed at a cost of ₹200 crore each in every Assembly constituency to provide quality education to students from poor backgrounds. These schools are being designed to make students employment-ready on completion of their education and are scheduled to be inaugurated across the state next year.
The minister also laid the foundation stone for a 33/11 KV sub-station near the Nalgonda District Collectorate. District collector B. Chandrasekhar, former municipal chairman Burri Srinivas Reddy and others were present.
