Komatireddy Challenges KCR To Answer Kavitha’s Corruption Claims

R&B minister hits out at BRS leadership during Congress Foundation Day event

Nalgonda: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Sunday challenged former chief minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao to respond to allegations raised by his daughter and Telangana Jagruthi leader Kavitha Kalvakuntla regarding corruption involving party leaders.

The minister unfurled the Congress flag at Rajiv Gandhi Chowrasta in Valigonda, Yadadri-Bhongir district, as part of the party’s 140th Foundation Day celebrations.

Addressing party leaders and workers, Komatireddy said regional parties without a strong ideological base tend to weaken over time. He said there was no need to take seriously what he described as baseless allegations made by BRS leaders against the Congress government. He criticised Chandrashekhar Rao for failing to address public issues and for not attending Assembly sessions despite drawing a salary as Leader of the Opposition.

The minister said Chandrashekhar Rao was unable to answer questions raised by Kavitha on alleged corruption during the previous BRS regime. He asserted that the Congress government in Telangana was governing in line with public aspirations and placing welfare at the centre of its policies.

Komatireddy challenged Chandrashekhar Rao to explain the financial accounts of the Kaleshwaram project before seeking accountability from the Congress government. He also announced that the Congress would launch an agitation from January 5 if the Centre did not withdraw its proposal to remove Mahatma Gandhi’s name from the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
