Komaravelli Station Will Boost Devotion, Tourist Economy: Kishan Reddy

HYDERABAD: Union coal and mines minister G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday inaugurated the Komaravelli Mallanna Punyakshetram railway station, terming it a long-pending facility aimed at improving access for devotees and supporting tourism in Telangana.
Built at a cost of about Rs 6 crore, the railway station has been designed in a temple style to reflect the character of the shrine. Kishan Reddy said DEMU services between Secunderabad and Siddipet will halt at Komaravelli, providing an affordable travel option for pilgrims, students, employees and small traders, and boosting local business around the temple town. He added that the Manoharabad–Kothapally line has improved connectivity to Karimnagar.
Highlighting railway investments in the state, the minister said Telangana has seen expansion in new lines, track doubling, electrification, station redevelopment and safety works. He said 340 km of new lines, 576 km of doubling, tripling and quadrupling, and 2,034 km of electrification have been completed, with projects worth Rs 47,984 crore under way.
He pointed out to the MMTS Phase-II extension of 35 km to Yadadri, the construction and modernisation of 40 stations at a cost of over Rs 2,000 crore, and the 173-km Pandurangapuram-Bhadrachalam-Malkangiri line, which he said is in the final stage.
Describing the station as more than a transit point, the minister said it connects faith with mobility and economic activity. He purchased the first ticket at the station and travelled to Gajwel as the first passenger, interacting with commuters.
Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar said the station would improve access to the Mallanna shrine and support farmers and small businesses. He said enhanced rail connectivity would be particularly beneficial during festivals and jatharas. He also stated that the MMTS Phase-II extension to Yadadri is estimated at Rs 1,122 crore, and the Kazipet rail manufacturing unit, built at a cost of `521 crore, is in the final stage.
