KLIS Probe – Justice Ghose to Be Back in Hyd Today

He is expected to submit report to govt by month-end

Hyderabad: Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, heading the judicial commission of inquiry into the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme barrages, is expected to return to the city on Wednesday. The term of the commission is set to expire on April 30.

Justice Ghose is expected to finalise his report on the omissions and commissions that resulted in damage to the three Kaleshwaram project barrages at Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla. Of specific interest is the worst-affected Medigadda barrage.

In the course of one year, during which the commission was given multiple extensions by the government, Justice Ghose cross-examined many witnesses including officials from the Chief Minister’s Office during the BRS regime. Also questioned were officials from various wings of the irrigation department, representatives from Navayuga, Afcons, and L&T which built the barrages, and others.

Though the commission was expected to call former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and former irrigation and finance ministers T. Harish Rao and Etala Rajendar, respectively, for cross-examination, it is uncertain if this will happen now, given that the commission has just about one week of its term left.
