KLIS Judicial Probe: Commission Says All Respondents Should Submit Affidavits

HYDERABAD: All engineers and others who depose before the Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose-led judicial commission inquiring into various aspects of the construction of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme, will have to submit their comments and responses in the form of affidavits before June 25.

This was made clear by Justice Ghose on Tuesday on the second day when around 20 irrigation department officials and engineers deposed before the commission.

The commission currently is focusing on issues related to the Sundilla, Annaram, and Medigadda barrages. Since Monday, it has questioned and heard around 25 current and retired engineers of the irrigation department who were either directly or indirectly connected to the planning and execution of the construction of the three barrages.

Justice Ghose is also learnt to have made it clear that officials named in the complaints received from public over any aspect of the project would also be summoned.

The commission is also set to question engineers and representatives of the three companies that built the barrages – Navayuga which built the one at Sundilla, Afcons which built Annaram barrage, and L&T which constructed the Medigadda barrage.

Though originally the government had asked for the report by June 30, the commission might take a little longer before a final report can be prepared as many others are yet to be questioned and their depositions taken.
