Kishan Reddy Urges Women To Fight Drugs
Union minister Kishan Reddy urged women to help build a drug-free society by monitoring children and preventing drug abuse.

Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday called upon women to help build a drug‑free society and keep a close watch on their children, noting that youth and children were falling prey to ganja and other drugs, causing serious problems for women and families.
Addressing a women’s awareness event at Amberpet, Kishan Reddy said Telangana should not face a situation similar to Punjab. He urged parents to monitor their children and prevent them from coming into contact with drugs.
Kishan Reddy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had set a target of making India drug‑free by 2029. A padayatra would be organised in Hyderabad in November as part of the campaign, he said. He appealed to women across Telangana to participate in large numbers and make the programme a success.
He also asked the people of Amberpet to celebrate Bathukamma on a grand scale on October 17. He described Bathukamma as a symbol of women’s power and said people of all communities participated in the festival without differences of caste or religion.
Recalling the past, he said brave women such as Chakali Ailamma had fought against oppression during the Nizam’s rule and the Razakar period. He said women were progressing in all fields, including aviation, the armed forces, business and information technology. He also highlighted the achievements of Indian women at the Asian Games.
Kishan Reddy said the Centre was supporting women’s self‑help groups by facilitating bank loans of up to ₹20 lakh. He urged women to educate their children and help them achieve their goals.
