Kishan Reddy Urges BJP Leaders To Stay Vigilant Against Fraudulent Votes During SIR Process

Union minister urges vigilance to remove fake, duplicate and illegal voter entries.

Hyderabad: Union coal minister G. Kishan Reddy has appealed to political parties and others to understand that the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral roll was an administrative voter-list reform rather than political move and strongly objected to portraying it otherwise.

He reaffirmed the BJP’s cooperation with the effort and highlighted the shared democratic responsibility to ensure every eligible citizen can vote while removing illegal, fake and duplicate entries.

In a statement, Reddy described SIR as a constitutional and lawful exercise conducted by the Election Commission of India and stressed that the process aims to bring greater transparency, clarity and credibility to voter lists nationwide. He asked the voters to be vigilant while taking part in the SIR enumeration and other phases. He appealed to the party MPs, MLAs, other leaders and workers to actively participate and remain vigilant that no duplicate and fraudulent votes remain on the revised lists.

He said the SIR exercise is being implemented in phases across the country and is proceeding smoothly, including in BJP-ruled states. Under the supervision of the state election commission, voter rolls are being thoroughly revised and updated. Reddy pointed out that states which recently held assembly elections have already completed SIR successfully.
