Kishan Reddy Slams BRS, Congress. Over Debt, Graft
Union minister alleges ‘commission raj’ and highlights Centre’s railway plans for Telangana
Addressing a BJP workers’ meeting in Tandur, Kishan Reddy said people had witnessed “family loot” during a decade of BRS rule and now face a Congress government that has “fixed a 30 per cent commission rate” on real estate, contracts and building works. “Ministers and MLAs are looting in this manner,” he alleged.
He claimed that Telangana, which began with a surplus budget, is now “struggling under Rs 13 lakh crore debt” and in a situation where even retired employees are not getting their retirement benefits. “The state has reached this condition only because of BRS and Congress,” he said, urging voters to give the BJP a chance to deliver “good governance”.
Kishan Reddy also took on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asking whether Modi should resign for “suppressing terrorism, building the Ram temple in Ayodhya in a peaceful atmosphere, protecting Muslim women’s rights, providing free rice to the poor and subsidies to farmers”. He said the rise of a BC leader as Prime Minister and a “corruption‑free” administration was the “thorn in Congress’s eye”.
Recalling his joining the BJP along with Baddam Bal Reddy and Sarweshwar Reddy in 1980, Kishan Reddy pointed out that the leaders waged a strong fight against Majlis and won Tandur in those days. He expressed confidence that the party would win all three Assembly constituencies in Vikarabad district in the next elections.
Later, at Vikarabad railway station, where he reviewed modernisation works along with Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, the minister said 42 stations in Telangana are being upgraded to international standards, including Vikarabad, Tandur, Nampally, Secunderabad, Maula Ali and Charlapalli. The Rs 27‑crore Vikarabad project, handling 15,000 passengers and 60 trains daily, will be completed by year‑end, he said.
He claimed Rs 80,000 crore of railway projects are underway in the state, with 100% electrification achieved and indigenous Kavach systems to be implemented first in Telangana. He also reiterated that Hyderabad will get bullet train connectivity to Bengaluru and Pune in the future.
Kishan Reddy also announced that the tenders had been called for extension of MMTS services up to Yadagirigutta and the land acquisition works were pending. He added that the project linking Hyderabad with the temple town would cost Rs 500 crore. He pointed out that though the earlier BRS government had not contributed for the second phase of MMTS, the BJP MPs from the state have convinced Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bear the entire Rs 1,200 crore project cost.
