Kishan Reddy Accuses State of Stalling Projects

Union minister G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday accused the Telangana government of stalling development projects and reneging on welfare promises despite receiving large Central grants.

HYDERABAD: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday accused the Telangana government of stalling development projects and reneging on welfare promises despite receiving large Central grants. He alleged that grants meant for housing the poor were left unspent in BJP-won Assembly constituencies because the state government feared the political benefits such works would bring the party

Addressing an extended BJP workers’ meeting in Amberpet, he alleged the present Congress administration, like the earlier KCR‑led BRS government, had obstructed road and flyover construction. He urged residents, party members and women’s groups to unite and protest the state government’s “ill intentions.”

On local works, Kishan Reddy said plans to beautify the newly built Amberpet flyover were blocked because the state government had not cleared heaps of garbage and mounds of earth. He alleged that when Central‑assisted teams attempted to lay a new road near the Mahankali temple, MIM leaders, allegedly aided by BRS functionaries, resisted/

Turning to unfulfilled poll promises, he listed assurances he said the Congress had ignored over the past two and a half years. He demanded release of the job calendar and explanations for these outstanding promises.

He also claimed the Centre had approved procurement of 55 lakh metric tonnes of paddy and was supporting distribution of quality rice through the PDS, but alleged the state had failed to provide adequate financial assistance to farmers, tenant farmers and agricultural labourers.
