HYDERABAD: Union coal minister G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday accused the Congress government of practising “selective governance” by extending preferential treatment to the Majlis‑e‑Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) while acting harshly against ordinary citizens.
In a statement, Kishan Reddy said the administration has been swift in demolishing houses of poor people and affecting livelihoods, yet has remained silent over alleged violations at the Fatima Owaisi group educational campus, which encroached full‑tank‑level and buffer‑zone land of Salkam Cheruvu in Bandlaguda.
He alleged the Congress government was working for commissions in land and real‑estate deals and protecting MIM interests to secure vote‑banks. “Is the government afraid of Majlis, in love with it, or both?” he asked, charging that the administration treats MIM as the representative of the entire Muslim community and bends rules in its favour.
The minister pointed out that despite repeated interventions by the Telangana High Court and requests for information from departments including HMDA and the education department, the government has not shown urgency in the Fatima college case. He added that poor Muslim families have suffered demolition of their homes without similar political or media outcry, whereas the Fatima property has received protection.
Kishan Reddy urged the state to apply a single rule of law to all citizens and warned that continued partiality would erode public trust. He said voters would respond at the ballot box.
