Kishan, Bandi Slam Revanth for Women’s Reservation Bill Failure

Leaders led by G. Kishan Reddy accuse Congress at Mahila Yatra

Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP on Wednesday launched a strong attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress, holding them responsible for the defeat of the women’s reservation Bill in Parliament earlier this month. The scathing attacks came at the BJP’s ‘Mahila Agraha Yatra’ led by Union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with state BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, and party MPs D.K. Aruna, Dr K. Laxman and Etala Rajendar.

Speaking at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park where the protest march concluded, Kishan Reddy said the Congress must be buried forever for the injustice it perpetrated on women by not allowing the Bill to be passed. Singling out Revanth Reddy, Kishan Reddy said the Chief Minister was “bursting crackers and celebrating the defeat of 70 crore women in the country” when the Bill fell through in Parliament.

“Revanth must explain what he was celebrating. Was he celebrating that 70 crore women in India were robbed of their rights? Was it for how Congress erected an iron wall for women’s reservation,” he asked. Revanth Reddy must also explain why he opposed delimitation which the Modi government was trying to ensure no injustice is done to south Indian states because of the process. The Centre planned to make sure that the delimitation would not hurt south India because of population-related issues. Both Congress and the BRS did great injustice to south India on this issue, Kishan Reddy said.

Sanjay said that though the women’s reservation Bill faltered for now, the BJP government would ensure that it was passed later. “The defeat was just Modi taking a step back, like a tiger does just before it launches its attack,” he said.

Targeting Revanth Reddy for opposing the Bill, Sanjay said the Chief Minister who did not keep a single promise to women in the state, led the effort to defeat the Bill. “Revanth cheated women here, and across the country. He must take the blame for women not getting political reservations in the country,” he said.
